I'm an IT support engineer in San Francisco, graduating from SF State with a B.S. in Computer Science in spring 2027. I care about access: who gets into a system, and what they can do once they're there. I've spent four years in IT operations, most recently at Okta, and I'm leaning into cybersecurity next, starting with detection and response. Outside work I build things for the people around me, like a job search tool and a reading app for my little brother. Thanks for stopping by, and if any of this sounds like your team, I'd love to hear from you.

Where I've operated

  1. IT Support Engineer Intern

    Okta

    May 2026 — Aug 2026 · San Francisco, CA

Supported enterprise IT operations at Okta, working inside the identity and access management systems most companies only integrate with.

    • Worked a queue of 10 to 30 IT support tickets a day in Jira Service Management for Okta employees around the world, resolving within SLA
    • Designed Desk Check, which turns a desk audit finding straight into a ServiceNow-ready ticket, cutting per-finding admin from ~4 minutes to under 1 — a projected several hundred hours a year across NAMER offices
    • Processed application-access security exceptions end to end — business justification, approval validation, and documenting the conditions that keep them within Okta security policy and least privilege
    • Mapped and redirected stale application knowledge base articles to current ones, so application owners got one accurate answer instead of several contradictory ones
    • Used LLMs — Claude, ChatGPT and Codex — to analyse logs and error patterns on authentication and SSO incidents, and supported escalation by reproducing issues and packaging findings for senior engineers
    • Managed macOS enrolment, configuration and policy enforcement through JAMF Now

  2. Executive IT Support Engineer

    California Public Utilities Commission

    Nov 2022 — Aug 2024 · San Francisco, CA

Ran end-user support and device management for a large state agency, inside a regulated government environment with strict security and compliance requirements.

    • Wrote PowerShell scripts for laptop profiling and imaging that replaced manual setup, saving 400+ hours a year
    • Delivered Tier 1/2 support over RDP across Windows and Ubuntu systems, cutting resolution time and user downtime
    • Administered user accounts, permissions and security groups in Active Directory across the agency's Windows domain
    • Diagnosed connectivity issues across TCP/IP, DNS and DHCP
    • Tracked the lifecycle of laptops, desktops and peripherals in asset management software to keep equipment accountable
    • Wrote SOPs and knowledge base articles that streamlined troubleshooting for the team

Two independent ventures, run end to end — I do the engineering, the operations, and the client work.

    • Built and shipped websites, email infrastructure, and automation systems for small businesses across the US
    • Coordinate a network of 150+ academic mentors across 2,400+ completed learning modules
    • Own compliance SOPs, instructional delivery workflows, and student engagement end to end

Systems I've built

Production systems and self-directed engineering practice. Each one is something I run, not something I demoed once.

Desk Check

Log a desk audit finding once, get a ServiceNow-ready ticket

An internal tool I designed at Okta for quarterly desk audits. Technicians were writing every finding into a spreadsheet and then typing it again into ServiceNow. Desk Check captures the finding at the desk and generates the ticket from it, cutting per-finding admin from about four minutes to under one.

Thuolo

Every open role, read from the employer and scored against your real resume

A job platform, live at thuolo.com, that re-reads employers' own career boards across 26 US metros every four hours and tells a candidate which of each posting's must-haves they meet — and names the ones they miss. Thuolo is Dholuo for open space — room to move, a chance.

Jarito

Keeps watch over your course deadlines, in Canvas and Brightspace

A free, no-account web app that puts every assignment across a student's courses into one list, from Canvas or Brightspace / D2L, and flags the moment a professor moves a due date, posts something new or rewrites the brief. A Chrome extension keeps the same watch in the background.

Silika

Reading practice that listens back

A reading, maths, Kiswahili and coding app I built for my nine-year-old brother. He reads a sentence out loud, the browser grades it word by word, and the whole family sees how it went. A silika is the Luhya communal work party — the neighbours who turn out to finish one family's work before moving to the next.

Smart Telemetry Collar

GPS and motion telemetry on an animal, proven end to end

An IoT collar: an ESP32 orchestrating a SIM808 for GPS and cellular, an MPU6050 for motion, publishing over MQTT to a cloud backend and surfacing in a Flutter app. Prototyped for pets, now being extended toward livestock with a team of engineers in Kenya.

Let’s build something secure.

I’m looking for new grad IT support engineering roles, and for ones that lean into security: identity and access, cloud and detection. If you’re hiring, or have a problem in that space worth a conversation, I’d like to hear from you.
